Events

At least once a month, we like to break our routine and do something a little different.  All of this semester’s events can be found right here on this page, as well as any permission forms you’ll need to fill out.

Fun Stuff - Fall 2008

Sunday, September 14th, 2:30pm-7:00pm- It’s time for our annual Fall Kick-Off Car Rally!  We’ll gather at Holy Apostles and split into groups.  Each group will travel with their leader via car from point to point, following clues at each turn.  The rally will culminate at the finish line with a celebration potluck!  All youth going into grades 6-12 are invited to participate in the rally, and their families are invited to join us at the celebration potluck.  It’s a great event to bring friends to, and don’t forget your thinking caps as well!  The Rally will start at Holy Apostles at 2:30 pm, and parents and families should arrive at the potluck at the church around 5:00pm. Families: please sign up at church to bring something to the potluck.  We’re also looking for volunteers to be “checkpoints,” drivers, or to help out with setting up the cookout, so parents, please talk to Benjer if you can help!

Genesis 2008!  October 17th-19th- Yes, it’s Genesis time again!  For more info on this great retreat, visit the Genesis Page.

Saturday, November 15th, 10am-8:30pm: Destination Unknown!  On Saturday, November 15th 10am-8:30pm, we will join other churches, including Good Shepherd, St. Timothy’s, Ascension Denver, St. Gabriel’s, and Transfiguration Vail for a fun day of unknown destinations.  We will meet at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church in Centennial at 10am.  Throughout the day, we will visit lots of great places and have several surprise events that include lots of fun and fellowship with youth from other churches, a service project, and a short church service.  Students can be picked up from Holy Apostles at 8:30pm that night.  Transportation throughout the day will be provided by adult leaders from each church.  While the destinations will remain a surprise for the youth, parents may contact Benjer for information about the day’s activities.  If you’d like to come, please  download a permission form here.  We need an accurate count for the event, so permission forms  must be turned in by Sunday, November 9th.  The total cost for the event is $15 per youth.  Parents: Each church is required to have enough car space for all the youth it brings.  If you can serve as a driver and would like to join us, please let Benjer know!

Sunday, November 30th, 4:45pm-8:30pm: Youth Dinner and a Movie- On Sunday, November 30th, we’ll have a youth dinner and a movie night at the Arfstens’ house (we promise, no turkey)!  We’ll gather at 4:45pm and be done by 8:30pm.   Please bring a snack to share with everyone.  You might get a nice round of S’mores as part of the deal, too!  If you have any ideas for movies, feel free to shoot Benjer an email or let him know at church.  Directions to The Arfstens’: From Santa Fe and Bowles, go west on Bowles; take a right at Grant Ranch Blvd.  If you’re coming from Wadsworth and Bowles, go east on Bowles and take a left at Grant Ranch Blvd.  Take a left at Dorado Dr.; take a right at Jay St. and an immediate left at Cross Dr.;  Take a right at Cross Pl., and the Arfstens are on the left at 6219 W. Cross Pl.  If you have any questions about directions or get lost, you may give them a call at (303) 794-9074.

Service - Fall 2008

Supporting Families for Christmas: This fall, we will raise money to support a family (or perhaps multiple families!) for Christmas this year, providing gifts and food from the money we raise.  Our youth will be in charge of planning fundraisers and earning extra money.  We need to raise about $1,300 for one large family.  If we raise $2,500, then the youth of Holy Apostles will be able to do anything they want to Benjer’s hair.  If they raise $5,000, then they will be able to do whatever they want to his beard.  On Saturday, December 20th, the youth will go shopping for the families in the morning and then will spend the afternoon wrapping presents.  Exact times will be announced later in the fall.  If you’d like to make a contribution to this project, please make your check out to Holy Apostles and mark the memo as “Youth Christmas Family Project.”
